Sold hot off the presses

After a brief delay, today I was at last able to pick up the very first box of Psi*Run from our lovely local printer. It looks pretty good!

Our printers are great people and business was steady. The box hit the counter, then I had to wait a minute while the printer helped a couple folks. An older man who was getting some fliers made leaned around the register and said “What is that? It looks interesting.”

Here’s basically what I said:

“It’s a game. This is a book of rules to help structure original stories that the players make up, in this case about people with psychic powers and amnesia. You try to fill in the gaps in your memory and figure out what’s going on before you get caught by whatever is after you.”

“And you wrote this?” he said, turning it over in his hands.

“Yes, I wrote it. I’ve played it with lots of kids in schools and libraries in the area, and with plenty of adults too. It’s fun!”

He bought it on the spot, to give to his 12 year-old granddaughter and her 10 year-old brother. He said it was just the sort of thing they’d love. Thanks, very first ever in-print direct sale customer for Psi*Run!

I picked up the first copy of Psi*Run today, so that’s pretty cool.

I got the second-to-last proof back from the printer last night. The cover looks good! Next step, an actual bound proof. Plans are to get that maybe today? Then I’ll order a print run. Print copies should be in hand by the 15th, shipping out a day or two after.

Then I get to work on the new edition of 1001 Nights!
